Welcome, New York Broomball Players!

Welcome to the home of New York Broomball!

This group is for anyone who either loves the sport of Broomball or wants to see just what its all about. Any and all experience levels are welcome. Its a super fun sport, but we're really all about getting together with friends new and old on the ice or court!

NYC Social Sports Club offers full seasons year round. During the warmer months, we play inside at a gym. During the winter, we play outside and on the ice. We even get the occasional indoor rink for the spring or fall!

Broomball is a variation on the game of ice hockey. We play on an ice rink, but instead of a puck, we play with a ball. Instead of a hockey stick, we use a 'broom.' And instead of ice skates, we play in our sneakers...its true! Be prepared to slip, slide, and fall in this wild and tremendously fun ice sport. Teams of 12-15 play 6 on 6, trying to outscore their opponents by hitting the ball into the opposing goal. The 'brooms' have been updated from their Canadian roots, early last century. We play with modern versions: rubber heads on aluminum sticks.

We provide the venue, balls, brooms, some protective gear (although you'll need to pick up some of your own too), goals, team-color shirts, online schedules and standings, paid refs, and post-game parties featuring beer specials!
