Bike-Hike-Eat #4: CIA - Lemon Squee?

What: Bike-Hike-Eat #4: CIA - Lemon Squeeze (Gunks) Mini-Vacation Ride!

When: June 22 SUN 7:30AM

Where: GCT, 7:45AM train to Poughkeepsie

You heard me right - we are going to visit the CIA. No, not the spooks, but the Culinary Institute of America in New Hyde Park in upstate NY, and take their tour. We will take Metro-North to Poughkeepsie and ride from there. After CIA, we will cross the Hudson via a beautiful walkway over the river:

We then ride past New Parltz to Mohonk Mountain Preserve to do the "Lemon Squeeze" near the Mohonk Mountain House - no, it's not a juice, but an incredibly beautiful rock scramble hike through labyrinthine split granite: You will need to bring hiking boots, and standard equipment/supply for a day hike (1.5 liters of water minimum).

Bring cash for CIA tour ($5), possible admission fee for the Mohonk House area ($10), MTA Metro-North round trip fare to Poughkeepsie ($29), Metro-North bike pass ($5) if you don't already have one, plus cash for lunch. It will be an all-day trip, but something you will remember for a while.

35+ miles w/ hills. This is upstate NY!

Only 8 bikes allowed on a weekend Metro-North train, so rider # is small. I will only take people I know who will not flake, and can also handle the hike and the ride. If you want to join this trip, please get on the waiting list, and I will update the RSVP list manually. Thanks.

If you have a car, and will like to drive there, talk to me.
