iOS Study Group at Byte Dept.

Location: Byte Dept., 148 Madison Ave (just south of 32nd Street), 6th Floor.

Time: 6PM. If you're running late, don't worry, we're usually hanging out until 9PM.

Food and Drink: Pizza and Beer — We'll have pizza for vegans, vegetarians, and meat lovers so come hungry and thirsty.

Socializing — 6PM until 6:30ish — Make new friends, find a study group or study partner, or just practice your people skills. :-)

Xcoding — That's what it's all about, right? During a typical Meetup people work on the assignments, ask other members questions, ask for help with a bug, etc. There is no set agenda and no formal presentation. If you prefer to sit in a corner and code away, you can do that. If you want to walk around offering people a helping hand, you can do that too.

First time, what should I expect?

Welcome to the group Orbin. The meetup is a mix of socializing/networking and coding. I'm sure there'll be a lot of talk about iOS 7 and Xcode 5 tonight. We have no set agenda and no presentation. People work on whatever assignment or project they like. You can ask for help and/or offer help. If you're looking for a study buddy let people know.

@Martin (and anyone else interested!) -- How do you define Mobile Art? Is there enough interest on this for YAMG? (Yet Another Meetup Group) http://davidreeder.info

    1 · June 6, 2013

    • Martin

I personally define mobile art as anything made completely with a mobile device. While that could mean music, poetry, or virtually anything, I'm most interested in photography and imaging, particularly novel ways to use the camera and imaging software. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to the actual development, but I'm obsessive about all the apps and their unique user experiences. I've downloaded just about every imaging app I can find and explored as many workflow scenarios as I have been able to. I'm bursting with ideas, and interested in finding out how feasible they might be.

I've been around a while and actually started on Photoshop 1 and even beta tested Photoshop 2.5. I was around for the KPT craze and even saw Live Picture come and go. It's absolutely stunning to me how much power these mobile devices have and very much believe that we are barely scratching the surface of what can be done.
