Every week during the Flatiron School (http://flatironschool.com) semester, 2 students will present a 30 minute talk and then we'll have an hour of networking and discussiong. Every Tuesday from 7pm-9pm!

Poker on Rails - James Vanneman

Prior to being a Flatiron School students, James was a professional poker player for 3 years. He's compiled a database of over a million hands of poker he's played and wrapped a Rails application around that. Harnessing the power of ActiveRecord and Highcharts, James will be sharing lessons learnt and best practices of poker through code.

Google Maps on Rails - Aaron Streiter

Aaron built a quick application that consumes NYC Open Data feeds on public swimmings pools and overlayed that data onto google maps and a Rails application. He'll share how he did this and some resources for anyone looking to use NYC Open Data to build applications.
