WELCOME TO NEW YORK CITY TENNIS!
We're the largest tennis Meetup group on Earth and the most active one in the greater New York City metropolitan area, so if you love tennis or if you just want to try it out, you're in the right place!
Week in and week out, weather allowing, we're out on the courts playing tennis, and whether you want to play sets, just hit around and have fun, work on your game, or take lessons with a licensed pro, you'll find plenty of fun, friendly people interested in exactly the same thing. So come join us and make new friends, get some fresh air and exercise, and have an awesome time!
SOCIAL TENNIS MEETUPS
We host full weekends of social tennis meetups, where we welcome everyone from advanced beginners to just plain advanced players — it's a friendly, casual environment, and we all just want to have fun and enjoy the game we love.
Please do be aware that whenever the courts are crowded, which is much of the time, we stick to playing doubles in order to make sure everyone gets as much court time as possible. There are often opportunities for singles, though, generally either early in the morning or later in the afternoon, and in the summer, sometimes in the middle of the day. And on very rare occasions, when we aren't able to get enough courts, we have to take turns rotating on and off. Usually, though, it's all tennis and all fun all the time!
TENNIS LESSONS
We also offer tennis lessons taught by Russell Cormier, a tennis instructor certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and licensed by the New York City Parks and Recreation Department whose skill, expertise, calm and friendly manner — and, perhaps most importantly, effectiveness — we can personally vouch for.
Russ has taught tennis to thousands of New Yorkers since 1980 in Central Park, Riverside Park, Inwood Hill Park, and in many private venues throughout the city. He is an experienced teacher of groups and students from Buckley, Chapin, Dalton, Dwight, Horace Mann, Marymount, Ramaz, Sacred Heart, and Spence. No matter what your age or experience, Russ will take your tennis game to the next level, and he takes special care to get beginners up to speed quickly and painlessly, without any stress or anxiety.
EVERYTHING ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW
Whether you attend our social tennis meetups or take lessons with Russ, all you need to bring is your racquet and whatever you'd like to eat or drink other than fountain water; we provide most everything else. More details, including directions, are included in all our event descriptions.
We also organize some non-tennis events throughout the year to give our tennis members a chance to mingle during bad weather and to meet other cool people who might not play.
We look forward to seeing you all, both on the courts and off!
