What we’re about

Thank you for visiting the New York City Archery Meetup Group!

After a difficult few years with leadership changes and the pandemic, we are now finally working on reorganizing and reopening the group, with a current goal of a summer 2023 launch.

Organizing (or reorganizing, in this case) a group like this is quite demanding and requires a large time commitment that can be challenging to balance with normal life stuff, so we may be somewhat slow to respond to emails; but we will respond! We ask for your patience as we work to get all the pieces in place to successfully relaunch the club. We look forward to getting back out on the range soon!

NYC Archery FAQ

1. What is your policy on masking?
Masking is voluntary, and we expect everyone to respect the decision to wear or not wear a mask at our events, in accordance with each person's comfort level. We do ask, however, that you do not come to an event if you are sick or exhibiting symptoms.

2. Where do the events take place?
Our range of choice is Gotham Archery (Brooklyn and Manhattan locations). We have also hosted outdoor events at Cedar Creek Park on Long Island. We always respect and follow the rules of the range that we are attending. Gotham requires that all new customers take a lesson with them before attending events, to learn basic etiquette and range rules.

3. What does it cost?
Club dues are $25 per year, which includes free loaner equipment (on a first come/first served basis, though, as club gear is very limited). Other expenses would be fees for range time on the day of the event (paid to Gotham, not us) and rental fees if you need to rent equipment from the range.

4. How to I request loaner equipment?
Email the organizers before the event date and let us know that you'd like to borrow gear, and we will let you know if we have equipment available for that date. And make sure to tell us if you need a right or left handed bow! (If you don't know, we can help you figure out your dominant eye.)

5. Are there attendance quotas?
You are not required to attend all (or any) meetups, but we will do a cleanup of the member list every 6 months or so to purge non-active members, so attending an event every now and then would be a good idea if you want to keep your membership active.

6. Anything else I should know?
Yes! We are a non-discriminatory and fun group, and we have a "no jerk" policy. We ask that members treat each other (and range staff) with respect, consideration, and kindness. Archery is a great hobby, and we want it to be fun and accessible for everyone!
