Introduction to C++ smart pointers

Details

Jason Rassi from MongoDB will give a talk, intended for C++ beginners, that gives an overview of the smart pointer pattern in C++, including how smart pointers work, what smart pointers are available in different standards and common libraries (e.g. C++98, TR1, boost, C++11), the semantics of those various smart pointers, and provide guidance on when and how to use the right smart pointer in your system design.

Please note that this is a beginner level talk. Attendees should have a basic understanding of C++ syntax and semantics and want to improve their understanding of this important and idiomatic design pattern.

About the speaker: Jason Rassi is a developer on the MongoDB core server team.
