St. Patrick's Week Session at Dempsey's with Joey Mullen

The Tuesday night open traditional Irish session before St. Patrick's Day is always a particularly festive occasion at Dempsey's and this year will be no exception as we welcome back button accordion player extraordinaire Joey Mullen as guest musician.

Joey has been a presence on the Irish music scene in New York since the Johnson administration, first as a dancer but more recently and famously as a button accordion player. He's a master of the G/C button accordion and has an unbounded affection for the music of the Gael. Joey, pictured below (right) with the equally legendary button box player and Dempsey's regular Stanley Rygor, has played at sessions throughout the tri-state area from Long Island to White Plains, and he's back from the Monsters of the Button Box tour to lead the Dempsey's session on this night.

We'll meet starting around 7 in the bar area for drinks, food and conversation. You'll want to get their early to get a seat or a good place to stand. The music starts at 8. All musicians are welcome to bring their instruments and join in. Non-musicians who want to listen, watch and enjoy are most welcome as well.
