Jameson's Revenge at Paddy Reilly's
Details
I know it's the eve of Irish Arts Week (https://www.meetup.com/nycelticmusicmeetup-com/events/69433492/), but if you haven't fled for the Catskills yet, please join us on this night to be a part of New York Celtic music history as Jameson's Revenge plays their first-ever gig at Manhattan's legendary Irish music bar Paddy Reilly's.
Formed in 2006, Jameson's Revenge (http://www.jamesonsrevenge.com/) started out as a loose and rotating collective of local Irish and Irish-American musicians who came http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/3/d/6/a/event_132435722.jpegtogether to play at pub sessions on their off nights from their bands. The band has since evolved to a steady four-man lineup, consisting of Denis McCarthy on fiddle and whistles; Brian McCarthy on bodhran and percussion; Andrew McCarrick on flute and whistles; and John Walsh on guitar and vocals. In the process, it's become one of New York's hottest Irish bands, packing pubs and festivals throughout the northeast, playing its own distinctive brand of traditional Irish music, both well known standards and original compositions.
Last year's "While yer up (http://www.jamesonsrevenge.com/our_albums/while_yer_up_cd/)" is the band's second studio release, following up on 2008's "Straight from the Bottle (http://www.jamesonsrevenge.com/our_albums/straight_from_the_bottle_digital_download/)".
Though certainly no strangers to Manhattan, this will be the Bronx-based quartet's first ever performance at Paddy Reilly's (http://paddyreillysmusicbar.us/), the east side pub that has showcased the best Irish bands from New York for the last 26 years, while featuring visiting acts from around the US and abroad. Paddy Reilly's has helped launch the careers of such New York Irish bands as Black 47, Cherish the Ladies, The Prodigals, The McCabes, The Mickey Finns and more.
Start time for this Saturday night show is 11 p.m. Meet starting at 9 up the street at Failte (2nd Avenue b/w 29th and 30th) for drinks, food and conversation then on to Paddy's by no later than 10:30 for the music.
Please join us for this history-making occasion!
