What would you like from this group? Share some of your ideas!

Umm...not sure. Maybe just to find someone to run around with, have a drink or chat at a show or two. I come from out of town, and I am usually on my own at gigs (the sore thumb complex?), so that would be nice, yeah...

In order to better support our members, please indicate artists, events, and venues for Celtic music that might appeal to other Celtic music fans.

Damien Dempsey, Danny Burns and the Defectors are two that come to mind. Maybe a little Shaz Oye too. Damo's class, and Danny's right there with him. Haven't seen him or Shaz live yet. Trad music sessions, too. As I say, I'm still learning...

I'm not Irish or Scots (Afro-American), but I've begun to really appreciate your music (beyond U2) much more these days. I have a lot to learn yet, but I'm getting there (plus, I've always wanted to see Black 47). Up the Celts! =)

What Tina is saying about this Meetup Group

Irish/Scots trad music (what I know of it) is good for the soul. The spirit and storytelling behind it reminds me a lot of my own Afro cultural roots. Now if only I could learn all the words to songs like "Kelly From Killan" or "The Braes o' Killiecrankie"!
