Good. Green. Fun.

Come volunteer with MNYCEM on Hands On New York Day!

On Saturday, April 12th we're rolling up our sleeves to give the city a spring-cleaning. We're volunteering on Hands On New York Day, one of New York City's biggest spring volunteer events and you're invited to join!

Our site location is a unique urban garden - the Linden-Bushwick Garden. There is a large plot of land that serves as the entrance to the garden as well as a really beautiful space behind it, known as the Secret Garden. The new stewards of the garden are working diligently to bring much needed change to the Secret Garden. The revitalization of the garden will definitely be an ongoing event and will have a ton of great components that can use volunteer help.

The main project for the day will be to remove a ton of construction debris, plant life and trash from the Secret Garden at the back of the garden. Volunteers may have to break some of the debris down and should be sure to wear sturdy shoes and boots. New York Cares will provide gloves for everyone (cloth gloves will be provided per our request). In addition, volunteers will help to do general maintenance in the garden as well as helping to rebuild a pond and to build a more secure ramp to the Secret Garden.

We also have the option to help raise money for New York Cares. Just like a walk-a-thon, we can choose to ask friends, family, and co-workers to support us by making a donation to New York Cares in honor of the time we spend volunteering. If you cannot join our team, but would like to support our efforts by making a donation, you can also do so through the link below.
