NYC Digital Roadmap Listening Sessions – Brooklyn

NYC Digital invites New Yorkers to a series of participatory discussions on initiatives to help realize New York City’s potential as the world’s leading digital city.

The meetups will begin with a presentation on New York City’s Digital Roadmap, followed by group breakout sessions, and will conclude with a group wrap-up.

Topics will include: Internet access for New Yorkers, STEM education, open data and innovation, online public engagement, and developing the local tech and digital industries.  We invite you to constructively share your insights and ideas on ways to sustain New York City’s digital momentum.

One of the suggestions of the Access group was that the NYCEDC create 'Gigabit Zones' to encourage development of high bandwidth business. I am happy to discover that this is already in hand via this RFEI: http://www.nycedc.com/opportunity/fiber-construction-rfei - the list of zones covered is here http://www.nycedc.com/industry/industrial/industrial-business-zones

Now, to our other suggestions :)

Hi all: Here's the official NYC.gov newsletters signup page. (Rachel, correct me if I have the wrong page!) Among NYC.gov's many newsletters is "Mayor Bloomberg's Digital Newsletter" and "Department of Small Business Services News." I just subscribed to both myself. https://www.nyc.gov/portal/site/nycgov/menuitem.63099911d804683c09416f1076a09da0/

Participatory Government in Action! Its amazing how NYC has become such a vibrant tech hub in a relatively short amount of time, and the Roadmap has a lot to do with that, IMHO.

It will be a long journey towards the Digital City of our Future, but I'm sure, years from now, we'll all look back to this time when that journey started.

The only good thing about having to change my RSVP to 'no' is knowing that someone from the waitlist can take the spot. I very much hope to participate in future discussions but can't make this event after all.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
