QUEENS FIELD TRIP to Middle Village/Elmhurst bungalow/garden.
At the Meet-up last-night people were interested in having a field trip to this place.

We are renting a lot in Queens that is available for collaboration in growing food, fish and studio space. The space aims to be another of the many NYC urban examples of permanent culture.

Is the 1st week-end December 5 or 6-- Sat or Sunday.
or November S 21, S 22, S 28 or S 29?
12 - 3 pm.

ABOUT WEEK END DAY TRIP: There may be 2 spots to visit but the one I am offering would be like this:
I see it as a chance for people to learn/ critique the space together. There are 4 3yr old peach trees, one apple tree and a very mature productive pear tree that are in need of trimming. We could finish the greenhouse. The frame is there. (its only 8 x 4.) It tends to be wet and cold inside the bungalow if not heated constantly-- great for basement mushroom cultivation ( how to do this???) It's a dirt floor crawl space below. All advisors and participants are welcome.

LOCAL bungalow garden connecting OPPORTUNITIES:
- An organization (city maybe) is building a large park (was Verizon parking land) . Where 80th St crosses under 495 near Elmhurst. We would be interested in collaborating with that park. Would anyone like to help set up that network?
Bringing animals and food in as a foundation for community participation and events. It's being landscaped now.

- The bungalow garden could be an adjunct education spot for the park. Their goats/sheep can mow and poop on local grassy spots as well as the little grass at the garden. (The park ranger for that park would have a multi-disciplinary job.)

- Local Resources: Many residents have elaborate flower gardens. Many grow veggies. Juniper park is not far. Silver Market is a small local grocery. Maybe there is a farmers market somewhere there. Day care centers, gymnastics facility- rigging and entertainment, skilled acrobats, laundry place, Old men playing bacci -- all could be useful. raccoons, snakes. the neighbor is farming his backyard.

There is a surplus of disconnection loaded with potential.

This is a real chance to practice close by. Come out to the garden for fabulous hot cider under the old pair tree. find garden networking possibilities, connect land to local micro enterprises and rural farms. (And Queens farm)

Please respond with thoughts!
IDEAS: visit this month, help/teach mushroom cultivation, network this in to your project, bring food for compost, make hot chocolate, podcast, design aquaponics, put hay in the cat shelter, come to learn or teach us something.

Done computing now.. I look forward to
.. standing up,
