Yesterday was my first time attending this meeting - it was very good to see a large number of people not only interested in learning Python, but also helping others learn what they themselves already knew. As a first timer - it would have been good to have a better understanding of how this meeting is setup and run - in this case, it was an informal organization in a space where several other study groups were simultaneously meeting - there was a Ruby group and a JavaScript group, as well as something called Hacker's Hours which I am still a bit unclear on. A couple of things that would have made the meeting better (IMHO): A sign that would have helped the Python Study Group co-locate. A place (whiteboard?) where people could contribute to a topics-to-be-discussed list to generate group discussions. Anyway - I hope to participate in a more meaningful way going forward, and my thanks to all that were answering questions and helping others yesterday.

I second the recommendation of a sign to locate the core of the group.

I've also suggested to the Alley NYC staff that it would be very useful to have access to some sort of threaded chatroom or forum, in order to keep the noise down when asking for or sharing advice.

Thanks John, David, and Jose! These are great suggestions! I will have sign out on the table next time so we can more easily group the Python folks. We already have an IRC channel in place on freenode. Please use #nycpython-weekly (http://webchat.freeno...). Thanks, and see you next week!

I'm at Alley for Hacker Hours and didn't realize there was also a Python study group here. But I see no signs. "Where" (??¿¿) is it "meeting"?
