The Development Group of HedgeServ Corporation is seeking an Application Developer to help build and enhance the proprietary General Ledger components of the HedgeServ software suite. HedgeServ is a fund administrator that develops technology and applications that are deployed to and used by hedge funds and investment firms. The General Ledger applications are written primarily in Python with some Winforms/C#. The Python layer communicates with a 3rd party application
The applications platform includes Java, Java messaging systems, and several systems based on Microsoft technologies including C #, .Net, and MS SQL. The HedgeServ solution also includes many 3rd party applications and components to be incorporated into the development and design of application enhancements.
The role requires a person who can work alongside other development teams, infrastructure groups and user communities to deliver quality, timely enhancements to the application suite.
¡ Work within agile development team to assist in design, development, and support of back office components of HedgeServ enterprise application suite.
¡ Participate in rotating support schedule for daily production operations.
¡ Participate in daily standup meeting to share team goals and objectives for the day.
¡ Participate in test-first, pair programming development environment.
¡ Collaborate with QA Developers to build components for automated test infrastructure.
¡ Participate in evaluation of QA results with QA Developers and Business Owners.
¡ Enhance vendor trading system to add support for specific General Ledger calculations.
¡ Collaborate with Development teams for Middle Office, Reporting, Architecture and Trading applications to create comprehensive systems and workflows.
¡ Define and implement custom database schema enhancements to support overall application enhancements.
¡ 5-10 years experience working in enterprise application development teams building financial applications.
¡ Experience working directly with end users to understand requirements and demonstrate applications in progress.
¡ Experience with multiple languages, including Python, Java, C#, Perl, Ruby.
¡ Prior experience working with frameworks and/or commercial financial applications with APls.
¡ Prior experience in an environment that delivers frequent production releases to end users.
¡ Prior experience working in an environment with an emphasis on testing, utilizing until test frameworks such as pyUnit or jUnit as well as automated acceptance testing tools, either commercial or custom.
¡ A BA/BS college degree with academic exposure to Computer Science and/or other technology related academic topics.
