The votes are in, and by a slim margin the group has decided that we will focus on how R translates among multiple languages for the January meetup. As such, during this meetup we will discuss how basic programming functions, operations and paradigms translate between R and four other popular programming languages. Given the tight margin in the voting, however, we will also spend slightly more time discussing Python and R.
Here is the tentative schedule:
As you can see, we are looking for two (or more) volunteers to discuss how Python and Matlab commands translate into R. If you have expertise and are interested in giving a talk please let us know!
I was expecting more technical content and less of a comparison of language syntax.

Good topic. Uneven presentation. Maybe better if all speakers used the same format and examples (if they did, it wasn't clear). Thanks.

I thought the topics were all very relevant and on the spot with what's planned. There was a lot of recommended resources for people to go play and investigate on their own which was great. All the speaker did a very good job, in both the contents and their deliveries. I was very pleased with the wealth of knowledge I picked up today.
