Elastic-R/Biocep-R

AOL HQ (map)

Selected By: Steve Jaffe

Elastic-R/Biocep-R is a distributed modular web-based framework for computing and presentation, based on R:

Elastic-R is a new portal built using the Biocep-R platform. It enables statisticians, computational scientists, financial analysts, educators and students to use cloud resources seamlessly; to work with R engines and use their full capabilities from within simple browsers; to collaborate, share and reuse functions, algorithms, user interfaces, R sessions, servers; and to perform elastic distributed computing with any number of virtual machines to solve computationally intensive problems.

For a full description see: http://www.elasticr.net/doc/ElasticR-SC10-T... (and more below...)

We will be hosting the inventor, Karim Chine, who will provide an introduction to the package and examples of how to use it.

The schedule for this month will follow our typical format:

  1. NetwoRking with pizza and snacks from 6:30pm-7pm
  2. Karim will begin his talk at 7pm sharp
  3. Post-meetup drinks at The Central Bar immediately following Q&A

Karim will be in NY 5-11 april (on his way to bio-it world in boston on 14 april). He's willing to give a talk while he's here -- any preferences as to day of the week?

I don't mean to promise AOL hq since I have no connection there -- but would that be possible?
