Dynamic Reports with RStudio, knitr, and Markdown

  • June 5, 2012 · 6:15 PM

Yihui Xie (knitr), JJ Allaire (RStudio),  and Jeff Horner (R/Apache and Rook) will unveil a new suite of tools they've collaborated on that make dynamic reports and reproducible research with R easier and more flexible. They'll cover new features of knitr and RStudio for creating publication-quality PDF reports. They'll also describe a new authoring format, R Markdown, that makes it easy to create web pages with embedded R computations and graphics.

Is there any chance a video will be posted? Sorry I had to miss the meeting, a very important topic.

I really enjoyed it! Hope to see wide adoption of tools like these to support reproducible research. (Shameless plug: ... for those of you who drop down from RStudio to Vi or Vim, please check out http://code.google.com/p/vimwik... for editing you R Markdown files)

Excellent intensive meetup. Three presenters in one hour. Yihui Xie blew my mind with his work and the style of his presentation. What a sharp young fellow - and how would we have met him before there were meetups? I'll now study knitr and Markdown in detail. Even in the case of RStudio, which I thought I knew, I will give it a new look to see what its customization options are.
This was a long day for me and I toyed with the idea of skipping the meetup. Am I glad that I didn't.

Three fantastic presentation on a topic relevant to anyone who has ever had to share their results (everyone). A big thanks to JJ, Yihui, and Jeff; I am looking forward to using the tool chain!

It was an exciting topic that I hope to put to good use soon. As a younger hackR, it was especially nice to hear Yihui's philosophy of being an R package maintainer.

If you haven't checked out Rstudio, then do. It _might_ even get you off vi.
