OCPHP June 2014 | Laravel | hosted by PeopleSpace

Venue Note: OCPHP will be upstairs @ PeopleSpaceOC. When arriving, note that there will another meetup, OC Swift, in progress downstairs. Due to size of both meetups, please give yourself enough time to find parking or get there early to checkout OC Swift before OCPHP; it starts at 6p. Thanks!

The PHP world has been rocked by an explosion of new frameworks, best practices, coding guidelines, and more database management tools than you can shake a stick at. Laravel, especially, seems to be one of the biggest trends in PHP right now. But what benefit does this new framework actually bring to the table?

Your hosts Ciaran Downey, Justin Page, and Benjamin Walters will be discussing some of the common problems that you as a developer might experience and how to solve them both within a framework like Laravel and in vanilla PHP.

Ciaran Downey has been developing in PHP for over 3 years, and he’s only had 2 brain aneurysms in that whole time. He occasionally blogs at and frequently codes at

Justin Page (@KLVTZ on both Twitter and GitHub) is a passionate student of PHP, always willing to learn and share that knowledge with others. He’s currently earning his Computer Science degree at UCI.

Benjamin Walters is an PHP wizard, trained in the dark arts of regex, master of the soul crushing monotony that is C++, and too engrossed in learning the secrets of the universe and PHP to write his own bio or blog at

SoCal PHP Mini-Camp | September 6th & 7th | UCI

Join us for the inaugural SoCal PHP Mini-Camp that is happening on the same day, at same venue, and at same times as Drupal Camp LA.  It is an opportunity to have a full day of sessions or more on general development practices and other related PHP topics.

As the camp is done bar camp style and sessions are volunteered, we invite you to share your knowledge by submitting your sessions and look forward to having you at the camp.

Two great sessions are posted already and we are looking for more!

Dependency Injection or using Pimple as container

Surprise! It's PHP :)

Registration and session planning is through the website link below so all the events of the weekend are better managed between the camps. It's going to be fun!
