Time for our Sunday classes again! I would love to see a lot of folks come out and get involved, but I'm noticing that a lot of people don't RSVP. If you choose not to, or decide to RSVP "No", please respond to my survey questions to let me know how I can make my classes more accessible and fun to you. Class will not be held on Nov 29, but there will still be a total of 6 classes.
Prices are $50 a series or if you become a member of the OC Salsa Membership, it gives you discounts on the series through the end of 2010. $50 for the membership gives you these prices: $35 for one series, $60 for two series and $80 for three series. Plus you get a $2 discount off the dance on Wednesday nights. Drop ins are $15 a class or you can use a Virtual Punch Card= 10 classes for $100.
Here's this round's schedule:
11:00 - Beginners Bachata (A) - The Basics: Whether you know about bachata or not, (or if you're just trying to figure out how to say it) it's becoming just as popular and widespread as salsa, and it's danced in all the same places. It's just as easy to pick up, if not easier, and is very connected and simple in a way that's similar to merengue. This class talks a little bit about the music and how to recognize it, as well as the history and origins of the dance. By the end of this class you will know all about timing, turns, and walks. Take this class for a fun complement to your salsa dancing!
12:00 - Beginners Salsa (A) - From The Top: I always tell my students this - everyone was a beginner sometimes. If you're new to salsa or still just trying to figure it out, this year is your time! It's okay to be a beginner, and this class will give you the moves you need to honestly tell people that you are, in fact, a salsa dancer. By the end of this class you will know all about turns, walks, and open breaks, and you'll learn a very simple routine that you can practice and be comfortable with. Take this class if it's your first time dancing salsa, or if it's just your first time dancing!
1:00 - Intermediate Salsa (A) - The Fundamentals: Whether you've been taking salsa for weeks or months, there are moves every dancer should know how to lead or follow. For the first couple of weeks, this class covers all of the moves and techniques of the entire beginners' salsa series with a few more challenging variations. The next few weeks move into new territory with moves such as crossbody turns, copas, and shines. The last week will review it all, plus add a few advanced variations to show you what you have to aim for. Take this class when you're sure you're ready to challenge yourself!
