Interested in online community, emerging technologies, digital storytelling, or all of the above? You definitely won't want to miss this special Online Community MeetUp for a mixed reality Digital Storytelling Screening and Awards Party.

TechSoup Global (your MeetUp host) is hosting a Digital Storytelling Online Event and Challenge (aka TSDigs). This free event challenged social benefit organizations and libraries to create a 60 second video or photo submission, showcasing their mission and work.

The submissions are in and the judging is on! Our panel of judges is reviewing the submissions and winners will be announced February 14th. Prizes include products from Flip Video, Adobe, Flickr, Publishers with A Purpose, and more!

Vote for your favorite story in the Audience Choice Awards through Friday, February 11th.

Here's the best part: The Feb. MeetUp will be a screening of top story submissions with an awards ceremony for the winners! Join us for our Feb. MeetUp, Wednesday Feb. 23, 7PM, at TechSoup headquarters in San Francisco. Watch the challenge submissions from fellow social changemakers, broadcasting live in San Francisco, streamed on the web, discussed on TweetChat and projected into the virtual world of Second Life (slurl to location in Second Life).

Don't know how to participate via Second Life? Here's an easy how-to.

Stay tuned to the event page and the Twitter #tsdigs hashtag for more details.

You can also register to receive email announcements about the event.

Sponsors: Thanks to our generous sponsors: ThankThis, providing refreshments and drinks donated by Hansen's Natural SF.

This was the first time I've attended an event at TechSoup, and it was a very positive experience! Staff was super friendly and welcoming, and clearly highly competent both with high tech/virtual and in-person communications! I got some great answers to my questions, tips and even a free book on the topic. Wow. The "digital stories" (aka video submissions) were interesting and inspiring, not least because they made it clear that you don't have to be a computer wonk or hire a company to make great digital storytelling happen. Also cool to witness the transmission of the event into Second Life, another "first" for me. Thank you TechSoup!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
