The Memorial Day weekend photography extravaganza is coming to a location near you. Three fantastic days exploring some of the most spectacular coastline in the world: Carmel, Big Sur and Monterey! For detailed descriptions see the individual days posted where you can also sign up for just one day:
Carmel & Point Lobos:
Monterey & Steinbeck country:
A few bonuses for those signing up for the entire weekend:
* 20% discount on the workshop fee
* extra morning shooting time on Saturday and Monday
* full moon-sunset shoot for those already here on Friday evening
Please RSVP and sign up directly through my other meetup group, so that I can keep an accurate count.
I will be staying at an Airbnb place in Carmel, arriving Friday afternoon. I recommend booking your accommodations as soon as possible. Many Monterey motels may be booked out. Salinas, though further away, is another good option, and so is Airbnb. Camping may be another option for you.
I look forward to meeting more of you and sharing your passion for all things travel and photography.
What you will learn:
• how to capture a sense of place
• how to incorporate lines, shapes and textures
• how to isolate subject matter with macro photography
• techniques to create emotionally compelling imagery
• how to approach people and create more interesting portraits
• how to weave a story with your images
Who should come?
This event is open to all experience levels. If you are not familiar with all the buttons, dials and menus of your particular camera don't worry too much. We will be focused on seeing and how to create images that convey a sense of place, emotion and wonder.
What to bring?
Your camera and a variety of lenses. Plenty of memory cards, extra camera batteries. Optional: flash, tripod. Bring (or buy) lunch, water and wear layered clothing for all weather conditions. It can be sunny and warm around town or on the trail, but cool and windy at the open ocean. Just be prepared. Though no rigourous hiking is necessary, you should be able to walk up to 3 miles comfortably.
Location Information: Monterey is located on a peninsula approximately 2 hours south of San Francisco.
