San Francisco Skyline Holiday Lights and Crescent Moon
Details
I was re-inspired this morning by some photos of OCF Member Rhonda Erslund. So here's a last minute free addition to the December calendar for all those of you who by Christmas Day afternoon want to do something totally different. All those extra lights go out right after the holidays, so the shot below can only be taken at this time of the year.
http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/5/8/0/event_77998752.jpegThere will be a tiny sliver of moon setting behind the city about an hour plus after sunset. So we should be able to catch it while still seeing dusk colors in the sky.
Bring your tripod. Best lenses are both medium (to capture the big scene) and long lenses (to capture a detail). Optional, but helpful is a cable release or remote trigger.
Sun set is at 4.56pm and the tiny sliver of moon (0.1%) will set at 6:21pm. Arrive early if you want to do more sun set shooting.
