Dawson Off Leash Park

Actually all things considered it was a nice day for our walk today. 21 owners and 17 dogs. Thanks to Nicole and her helper Cheryl (from the Naked Dog) for bringing her dog winter gear to fit our dogs with booties etc. Our next walk will be on Sunday, October 18th @ 2:00 p.m. at Dawson Off Leash Park. This is a multi-use park so there might be cyclists and joggers. For those who haven't been to Dawson Off Leash Park, it runs along the North Saskatchewan River. Go South on 95th Street off of Jasper Avenue. Get right away into the inside lane and turn left at the first set of lights. Follow the road and turn left at 89th Street (before you get to the bridge). If you've crossed the bridge you've gone too far. Take your 1st right to the parking lot. After parking you'll see me at the left of the parking lot in a grassy area. This park has a fantastic photo scenic stop to take great pictures of the Edmonton downtown skyline. We will stop there for a few minutes for people who wish to take pictures for xmas cards, or whatever. If the weather is 15 degrees below or colder, the walk will be canceled, but I'll let you know a day ahead of time if I'm going to cancel. I must reiterate that we will be leaving at 2:00 p.m. sharp! as the weather is getting colder and we don't want to be standing around too long. If you are going to be late or if you get lost, you can call me on my cell[masked]-5256. I'll have it on for the walk and can let you know what direction we are heading so you can catch up. See you there. It's a great park for those who haven't been! Looking forward to seeing you and your pooches on Sunday, October 18th @ 2:00 p.m. Don't forget about our Halloween Party on October 31st at 11:30 a.m. at the Doggie Style Deli. They will have a Halloween celebration cake for the dogs. There will be a prize for the best dressed dog and the best dressed human. Oh! and the Edmonton Humane Society e-mailed me that they have lot's of dog Halloween costumes and part of the proceeds go to the Humane society (if you are looking for a place to buy an outfit). If you don't want to dress up your dog or yourself, that's o.k. as I know my dog Sam hates when I put anything foreign on him. We will still have our participant's draw for attendance. Was a lovely day for a long walk. Lots of doggies and their owners. The mixture of flat trail and hills made for a good workout for all. Just a quick warning to make sure you pick out any of those round looking burr thingys from your dogs coat. Kicsi has been throwing up all evening and coughing ,gagging and swallowing a lot. I suspect they are caught in his throat. He has calmed down now..but I'm watching him like a hawk. Scary! I know Foxtails can be very dangerous too.

Another great outing! Lacey and I had a blast. Dawson Park is another beautiful off-leash area that we Edmontonians are blessed to have!

I loved the park and will go there again. Cannot show up late by any amount of time as it is unlikely you'll catch up to the group. We did manage to rush up to the last few people but then lost everyone when my dog had burr's in her fur and I had to get them out. We found our way back to the starting point right as the group was getting a group picture. I don't even think they knew someone was still missing.

Pepper and Sugar had fun with all the dogs. It was a great day for a walk at this off leash park. I enjoyed myself as well. Thanks for another awesome walk, Jean. :)

Very nice off leash park (except for the stinky sewer smells). It was my first time there and I will be back.
