Oregon Institute of Integral Studies

Based on the model of the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco, this group is an opportunity for like-minded lovers of conscious expansion to convene, connect, and to plant the seed of a future Oregon Institute of Integral Studies (OIIS). As a working Mission Statement, we will adopt the one from the CIIS Website (www.ciis.edu):

"California Institute of Integral Studies is an accredited institution of higher education that strives to embody spirit, intellect, and wisdom in service to individuals, communities and the Earth. The Institute offers interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, and applied studies in psychology, philosophy, religion, cultural anthropology, transformative studies and leadership, integrative health, women’s spirituality, counseling, community mental health, and the arts. With its personal learning environment and supportive community, CIIS provides an extraordinary education for people committed to transforming themselves and the world."

NOTE ON INTEGRAL: We use the term 'Integral' in its most broad sense - the idea that all things are interrelated and inter-dependent, and that to study, learn, experience, and grow most skillfully, one must acknowledge and consider the subtle implications of a greater perspective in order to best know the whole, or the truly holistic picture. We do not intend to use the term 'Integral' in reference to any specific school of thought, including the work of folks like Sri Aurobindo and Ken Wilber, although our focus may at times include these and other schools who use this term.
