We are hoping you have all recovered from the holiday party by now and are ready for an exciting event we have planned to kickoff the new year.

Join us in January on K Street where Laura and Chris Amico, the team behind Homicide Watch D.C., will talk about being a startup, the process of developing beat software around reporters, some of their recent projects and their expansion plans.

Homicide Watch D.C. launched in Oct. 2010 as an online journalism project covering every homicide in D.C. from crime to conviction. Using data, blogging software, DocumentCloud, Storify, and other tools, the site has become a bonafide newsbreaker and must-read for anyone concerned about or impacted by violent crime in the District. Homicide Watch D.C. was a notable entry in the Knight Batten awards and founding editor Laura Amico was a 2011 MJ Bear fellow at the ONA conference.
