Who should come: Anyone who RSVP's, their first drink is on me! Oh yeah,
Why: This is a chance to show support for achievement and scholarship in our community with other Onyx members, industry professionals, and community leaders . There will be an MC hosting the event, a DJ for dancing, dinner, and a paid bar for drinks!
Meeting Description: I know this is cutting it close, but I would like to invite you to the 2nd Annual NSBE scholarship banquet that will be held THIS Saturday, April 5th at the Hyatt Regency, Santa Clara from 6PM to 10PM.
We will be awarding scholarships to deserving Bay Area K-12 and collegiate students. We will also award Silicon Valley NSBE alumni members with scholarships that help them obtain MBAs.
The banquet is a GREAT networking event ? we are expecting about 12 sponsor companies to show up: Apple, IBM, Symantec, Intuit, Rockwell Collins, Abbott Vascular, Johnson & Johnson, LifeScan are just a few of the confirmed companies (not to mention all the unrepresented companies that our members and people like yourself are a part of).
Our Keynote Speaker will be Ken Coleman, Chairman of Accelrys, and our MC will be Cheryl Hurd, NBC 11 News Reporter. Ken Coleman is very well connected and we are expecting some of his very close friends at the event. Some examples include:
* John Thompson, CEO, Symantec
* Hilliard Terry, VP and Treasurer, Agilent
* David Drummond, Senior VP and Chief Legal Officer, Google
In an effort to strengthen ties with our Onyx group, NSBE is offering Onyx members a special savings on the ticket price so we only pay $20! Cmon, if your plan was to hit the streets or to go out to eat this night, $20 is the minimum you would pay! How about a chance to dress up, hang out with other socially conscious black folks, for a good cause; AND by the way, you still get fed :)
You must register online, after RSVP'ing here:http://www.nsbe-ae-svc.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=29&Itemid=5
Also, please do submit a copy of your resume to our Parliamentarian, Diego Dimes - [address removed]. Submitting your resume enters your name in a raffle where you could win a computer, an iPod or other prizes at our next general body meeting to be held on April 26th.
WHY YOU SHOULD COME ANYWAYS!:
First off, your fearless co-organizer, Jeremy, will be there along with many of your peers, dressed to impress! Secondly, its a chance to network regardless of your career. Lastly, you get all of that, with dinner and dancing for practically nothing, AND you'll be supporting a great cause and many hours of effort in putting this together! And, i'm offering a free drink? Cmon, this is a no brainer!
I encourage everyone to RSVP to attend this event! Someone roll with me!
