I'm passing on some information that was recently sent to me. I fixed some but not all of the broken links. Also, I was an Inroads intern way back when- if you or someone you know is curious about the program, feel free to contact me.

AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS ARE NOT APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS: Even if you do not have a college-aged child at home, please share this with someone who does, and to anyone and everyone that comes to mind. Though there are a number of companies and organizations that have donated money for scholarships to African Americans, a great deal of the money is being returned because of a lack of interest or awareness. No one is going to knock on our doors and ask if we can use a scholarship. Take the initiative to get your children involved. Money shouldn't be returned to donating companies because we fail to apply for it. Please pass this information on to family members, nieces, nephews, friends with children etc. We must get the word out that money is available. If you are a college student or getting ready to become one, you probably already know how useful additional money can be. (If clicking on the link doesn't work, then type in the Web site address manually.)

I recently received information about another scholarship opportunity from the SFNABA:

Since inception, the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (SFNABA) has provided over $100,000 in scholarship funds to deserving students. Through the generous contributions of individuals, groups, and organizations that share SFNABA's desire to break through the economic barrier minorities often experience, SFNABA has offered varying scholarships ranging from $500 - $6,000. With an average of only 50 applicants per year, our Scholarship Program provides an excellent opportunity to obtain funding for college.

Please note that applications must be received by April 16, 2010 (Postmark Deadline). Further, applicants must be paid NABA members either Professional or Student. A paid member is one whose membership dues have been paid on-line or received by NABA's National Office by the scholarship deadline (April 16, 2010).

This is a great opportunity to obtain funding for college. Don't miss it!Also, if you are no longer a student please forward this message for those who might be interested.

Thanks for your attention, and we look forward to receiving your applications. Please contact Tasha DuBose our Director of Student Affairs if you have any questions or concerns about the Scholarship Application.
