OpenStack 101

This will be a high-level technical overview of the major components of OpenStack:— the virtual machines, virtual hard-drives, object storage, virtual networks, image registry, and the dashboard — as well as the associated sub-projects and the OpenStack services that combine to provide an incredibly flexible self-service infrastructure platform.

We'll also talk about some of the diverse use cases for OpenStack, and finish with a demo of one of the use cases.

If remote access via WebEx or TeamViewer is not possible, then is it possible to have a phone bridge for audio only?

If someone wants to volunteer to run this, it would be most welcome, though I think watching a video would be better than an audio experience: https://www.google.com... .

Just in case this didn't come up last night. http://trystack.org/ to play with an OpenStack implementation. It uses Facebook Connect to try and keep it simple.

Hi Lloyd, what's the status on the waiting list, and how will you handle same-day status changes?

If real time remote access is not feasible, then is it possible to record this session in video or audio or both for later viewing such as YouTube or WebEx?

    June 20, 2013

There are only 21 people attending and 51 people on wait list. If remote access via WebEx or TeamViewer is not possible, then is it possible to have a phone bridge for audio only? That way people who are on the waiting list and want to attend and those who are too far away to justify a 90 minute plus rush hour drive each way for a 90 minute presentation event would be able to attend remote.

Thanks for the good suggestions. This will be a physical meetup only. I'm going to continue to try and run this session each month as long as there is interest.

If you are on the wait list and you feel this is a unique opportunity to attend, please give me call at[masked] and I'll work to make a spot available for you.

Security is pretty tight in this art gallery building, 49 Geary St, so we'll have a runner coming regularly downstairs starting at about 6:15 until 6:50 pm. They'll be checking people verses the attendees list. We're on the 5th floor: suite 530.

Call[masked] if you are stuck outside, or try my mobile @[masked]

Can we one in South Bay?

That one seems to be more developer focus. I was more interested from operations perspective.

Hmm, with expressed interest I'm sure they will be motivated to put a session together with an operations focus.

No, I was suggesting watching a produced video would be a better experience than lousy audio.
