South Bay OpenStack Meetup, Beginner track

  • Sep 4, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

These meetups are community based and focused. The Beginner track is for someone with little to no experience with OpenStack technology. Perhaps you are just interested in expanding your DevOps horizons. Or maybe you are someone that just wants to learn more about "this cloud thing." This track is for you!

The Intermediate/Hackathon track is for someone with DevOps experience, some python experience, and an understanding of OpenStack core. Some advanced OpenStack DevOps folks will join the hackathon from time to time.

The Advanced track is for seasoned OpenStack DevOps to discuss blueprints and code. Each Advanced DevOps meetup will focus on a different OpenStack core project.

Attend remotely via webex. The link will be posted here just before start time.

Updates will be published via the meetup email list, OpenStack community blog, and twitter via @sarob or @hpcloudangel.

I heard that Polina did a great presentation at the beginners session. Several attendees told they learned a lot.

I agree! I heard a small bit when I left the Hack group to get a drink, and I was torn between staying or going back because her explanation was so good. So, both session were very good!

Yes. The presentation from Polina was good and equally excellent were her explanations and answers to user queries.

    Does anyone has webex link???

    1 · September 4, 2014

    • Lisa-Marie N.

I don't think we can use WebEx anymore because no one has an account. We'll use Google hangout.

      September 4, 2014

  • Ruofan Z.

@Alex@Pranav@Fardeen, do you guys find out the link?

    September 4, 2014

  • Lisa-Marie N.

We don't have a webex link anymore. We posted the Google Hangouts link and a couple of you joined. Sorry it took us a while to get that going.

Hi All...can someone help me ubderstand...how is the beginner track designed....is there any lab or tutorials that we can follow...

    September 4, 2014

    • Lisa-Marie N.

Mirantis will give the training presentation tonight. We call it "training" but it's more of a presentation-style, with Q & A encouraged. You are welcome to bring your laptops, but I don't think tonight's session is hands on.

      September 4, 2014

    • Srikanth M.

      thanks Lisa...

    Hi Lisa,

I noticed that it is possible to attend via webex. Is this an option for beginners as well? Could you please post the link? Thanks.

Sean usually posts this Google Hangout link about 15 minutes prior to the session. Not sure about the WebEx side of things. I will let Sean answer.

    September 4, 2014

Sean manages the virtual part of this event. I will let him answer.

Hi Bill, that's correct. The hackathon is in the Apollo room, right next to the Cafeteria. Sean and/or I will make an announcement at the beginning and make sure everyone is in the right place. :)

Two OpenStack meetups at the same location at the same time?
    Both SFBay OpenStack Hackathon #OSSFO
    and
South Bay OpenStack Meetup, Beginner track
are shown on Meetup as meeting in the same cafeteria at the same time.
Just asking if this is the intention.

    August 29, 2014

    • Csaba P.

Not on the last event but one before that there were 3 different room for 3 different group: 1 for openstack architechture in theoretical point of view. One for sysadmins (you should bring your own laptop ) and they are planning to install open stack inside VM machines according to the documentation. And the last group was for developers the actual "hackathlon". Sorry for my broken English I hope you can understand it.
