Talk & Play #7

Talk & Play is turning one! To celebrate the occasion, this meetup is going to be a bit different than usual: it will take place in a special location featuring a beautiful garden, and there will be a BBQ as well, weather permitting – we're going to provide some food but it would be nice if you could bring extra stuff (file under: BYOF). UPDATE: because of the rainy and cold weather there won't be any BBQ, but the meetup is taking place anyway! Doors are at 6:30pm, Vescape’s presentation will start around 7:30pm. There will be drinks & snacks. Bring your games!

This time there will be no talks, but Jerome Feys and Jean-Baptiste Molle, the two founders of the VESCAPE game studio headquartered in the Blue Factory, are going to showcase their new concept. They develop interactive video games for fitness equipment like exercise bikes. Their first game, Vescape Cycle Racing, is a cycle racing game where the avatar bikes at the exact same speed as the player and the pedaling resistance changes automatically according to the slope, making it for example much harder to bike uphill. They will also present other games like Django Kart, a go-kart racing game, and some maze games as well as the possibilities for game developers to offer their own concepts and games on their platform.

As always, all participants are welcome to bring games they've made or are still working on – a perfect opportunity to discover and play new games, collect feedback and, who knows?, maybe find collaborators for future projects.

If you've never been to Talk & Play before, check out the summaries of the previous events to get a better idea of what we talk about when we talk about video games.

Would you like to give a talk in the future? Then get in touch.

1st-timer, but certainly not my last meet-up! Everybody gave me the feeling of being welcome, which is not always true for newcomers in settled groups. Interesting games to play and interesting talks about them.

    No question this time?

Yeah, I was quite disappointed too. Where should I direct my raw potential for anti-jokes and metahumor now? :(

There won't be an introduction with slides and stuff as usual, as I'd like to spend as much time as possible outside (if the weather's not stupid), so I preferred to skip it. But there might be an offline question on site!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
