July Mapping Party and Happy Birthday to Us!

Hi all,

It's hard to believe but it's been a year since this meetup was started!

And what a year it's been! We've seen incredible growth of OpenStreetMap
throughout the entire United States, but especially in NYC!

So thank you everyone who goes out and maps, it's because of your hard
work that we have this incredible project!

It's time to plan out a Mapping Party and Eric suggested that we map the
areas affected by Hurricane Sandy. That includes parts of Lower
Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and parts of New Jersey.

We have seen a lot of mapping in those areas, both of closures and of
places which have re-opened, but there's still plenty to do.

Does anyone have a suggestion of an area of a Sandy Effected area that
could use some (re)mapping? If no one else has a suggestion, I was
thinking of Wall Street, or South Ferry. I suspect that there will be
open cafes and restaurants on a weekend that won't be packed, so we
could find a place to go, do some mapping, and make a real impact.

What do folks thinks?

- Serge
