Summer #editathon for OpenStreetMap US

The OpenStreetMap US community is organizing another nationwide #editathon for the summer, during the weekend of July 20-21. We'll be getting together on Saturday the 20th to rep our Bay Area (and FL) in the event, to improve local OpenStreetMap data.

There is still tons of room for improvement for the Florida OSM data - schools, parks, airports, street connectivity, building footprints - lots of these are missing or lacking tons of detail. We've started a "tasks" project on GitHub to add and keep track of some things missing to map in Florida, so check it out and join up!

Location is still unset, so suggestions are recommended and appreciated...

Anyone have any suggestions on location for this weekend? I'm thinking of the Panera on Ulmerton in Largo/Clearwater, for food, space, and wifi access (http://osm.org/go/ZDdOeiIq7--)...

Thanks, Jerry. I've done a ton of the parks in the St Pete area. I need to add some detail on the issues describing features to be mapped, potentially with some examples of what I did so others can follow suit. For parks, I'm mapping anything that fits within the OSM data/attribute structure, and otherwise tagging features with URLs to other content and notes.

    Coleman, Nice idea, using GIT.
I looked through the proposed topics and I'm at a loss. Not certain what you are looking for in any of your proposals. Perhaps in each project you should make a representative sample. Pick a school or park, for example, and fully populate it. Or maybe discuss it at the meetup.
BTW, I looked at the schools. I found there are already 186 school entries in OSM. There are 248 on the PDF you posted to GIT. At a minimum you'll need to add 62 schools.
I STRONGLY recommend NOT adding the "other" info on your school PDF file. Goulet Rule 53: never copy data when you can point to it. "I" recommend finding a URL for each school and adding it as a REF or SRC to each node or way.
    Enough said for not attending.
    HAVE FUN!
    Jerry
