Oxford Arts Group presents 'Park Live'!

While we're putting together the next Sunday Social at The Albion Beatnik, we thought we'd take advantage of any passing sunshine to host an outdoor picnic and performance event along similar lines. It features live entertainment and it's in a park!

Last year, we had a fabulous picnic in a shady corner of University Parks with some of Oxford's 'yarn bombing' knitting community. The only thing missing was an element of performance. This year, we've rectified this omission with a lovely line-up of actors, musicians, poets, dancers, arts and crafty people.

It will be very relaxed. The artists and performers have a loose schedule. It might be somebody playing a guitar under a tree, actors performing a scene (UP a tree?) Dancers following a trail to the river. With everybody free to gather round and follow along, or simply lie down and drift away....

Please bring food and drink, arts and crafts, balls and games (with or without frontiers) and a couple of quid to throw into the hat for the artists and performers. We have a burgeoning line-up, but if you'd like to contribute your talents and ideas, do get in touch.

Meet at 1.30 and then continue as long as we're feeling the mood

Rendezvous at the North Lodge gate (on the corner of Parks Road and Norham Gardens).

We'll be heading for 'Coronation Clump' (The group of trees adjacent to the cricket field) Call[masked] for directions on the day.

Performances start from 2.30 (with breaks) and include:

Rawz (Oxford's premier Hiphop MC)

Martin Ash from Ragdoll (fiddle)

Oxage (members of the cast offer a taster of their forthcoming street play)

Ian Trinder (mellow guitar and vocals)

Clare Waters (spoken word)

Bruno Guastalla's 'Rue du Lac' (French guitar, voice and bandoneon trio

Paulette Mae (Contemporary dance)

Simon Davies (Classically trained singer/songwriter)

Rymeskeemz MC (Rhyming and Skeeming)

Moogieman (Wry, lyrical alternative-pop humdingers)

Further acts to be confirmed...

There will also be crafts from Oxford Social Knitwork and Hannah Yeadon (origami)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
