Living Root is a Boston-based dragon boat team. We're made up of about 60 to 80 people from all genders, races, age groups, and smartness levels. We get together several times a week to practice dragon boating. What the hell is that, you might say. Dragon Boat is an ancient Chinese sport that is growing in popularity in the US. The boats are 42 feet long and they hold 20 paddlers, a drummer, and a steerer. We race all over the region and in foreign countries (ok, fine, just in Canada).
We are always looking for new paddlers. Always. In addition to the 20 to 30 that normally show up at practice, we usually have 1 or 2 who are trying the sport for their first time. Teamwork is really important to us and we try really hard to integrate new paddlers into the team. If you're new to the area, dragon boat is a great way to meet people and make friends. If you've been in Boston for years and you're tired of your old friends, we can help freshen up your social life.
Give it a try! Dragon boating rocks, and we'd like you to come give it a shot.
