Runic month of Thurisaz begins

Today, July 29th, begins the runic month of Thurisaz, the third rune of the Elder Futhark. Thurisaz is most commonly called the thorn, as in the passive defense on a rose stem. In the progression of the Futhark, having knowledge of your potential and the strength to carry you forward, Thurisaz comes as the first measure of warning of the eventuality of resistance from the exterior world.
Think of Thurisaz as a warrior's shield. It offers great protection but takes away the advantage of having another arm and hand in combat. That is not particularly a bad thing. But, Thurisaz stands as the reminder to think about how you guard yourself and what amount of resource you take away when putting too much energy into protective reserve.
This rune is also used as a general protective force that deals a reflective blow to anyone attempting to counteract you Will, just as a warrior's shield can function as a secondary weapon with enough force and focus.
