A place for people who:
Think about deep questions.
Challenge cultural ideas (ever notice how "cult" is the 1st four letters in the word culture).
Seek truth.
care about growth.
This will basically be a philosophy group for people who want to discuss ways of understanding reality, and uncovering the truth, with a focus on how to so this as an sane person within what is often an insane society.
Learning the truth and personal growth have so much more to do with what life is about than mass conformity to a pathological culture of lies and deceit.
So many forces try to put us "inside the box" or in a "matrix." But what is reality and how do we uncover the truth effectively? (Do people even want to know the truth?)
Is the greater question not "what should we think?" but "how should we think?"
This is not a group for those who care about fitting in and being "normal"
“Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.”
Mahatma Gandhi
"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society."
Krishnamurti
“Society exists only as a mental concept; in the real world there are only individuals.”
“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.”
Oscar Wilde
"The third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. The second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. The first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking."
A.A. Milne
Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true. [paraphrased]
Buddah
One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. The bamboozle has captured us. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.
Carl Sagan
The soul that is within me no man can degrade.
Frederick Douglass
