Re: [knitting-937] Last chance to vote for knit-along pattern!

I'd like to say one thing about the Baby Surprise Jacket (which is popular enough to have gotten its nickname 'BSJ'). It's a garter stitch jacket with some simple shaping: increasing and decreasing. The complications are really in visualization because it's folded and seamed at the end making it hard to see how your oddly shaped polygon will become a jacket.

And I did start one after I saw it posted as an option. The directions are a little vague, but mine seems successful so far (fingers crossed).

If you haven't already, please vote for your choice of knit-along pattern. I'll be closing the polls early tomorrow afternoon, and formally announcing the results at tomorrow evening's meetup.

There are a few related notes I'd like to broadcast while I'm at it. First, I've never knit the current leader, Elizabeth Zimmerman's Baby Surprise Jacket. While the Foliage hat is a close second* and may yet win final nomination, I'm in no position to offer anyone help with Zimmerman's pattern. If it wins, we'll probably lose a week to finding someone willing and able to be a Baby Surprise Advisor to our little knit-along.

Second, if this knit-along goes well, would we want to make knit-alongs a regular, perhaps seasonal, event? We could (but certainly don't need to) have themed knit-alongs, where nominations all relate to a given theme -- such as hats or lace or whatnot -- that would change from knit-along to knit-along.

Finally, I'm not averse to hearing any comments you have on the knit-along. E-mail me or leave me a message on Ravelry if you have any opinions you'd like to share.

* I might add that Foliage is smaller, not really that difficult, and age-appropriate to a wider group of people. But then, I'm a bit partial to lace lately.
