Join us for an early Father's Day celebration, an Italian film and tasty gelato! We're screening a delightful, award-winning comedy from Italy about an unlikely coexistence between a father and his newly-discovered teenage son.

Bruno (Fabrizio Bentivoglio) has lost all zest for life - his career is flagging and his passion for teaching has become an apathetic routine with equally uninterested students, including 15-year-old Luca. One day Luca's mother reveals a secret that turns Bruno's life upside down: Luca is his son. Awkward.

This is classic comedy served up Italian style - warm and funny but never over-sentimental or patronizing. "Scialla" is Roman slang for "take it easy", and this film is pretty much just that. Not loud or vulgar but simple and amusing. Al dente!

Trama: Bruno Beltrame da tempo ha messo da parte il suo talento di scrittore e scrivere su commissione "i libri degli altri", le biografie di calciatori e personaggi della televisione; la sua passione per l'insegnamento ha lasciato il posto ad uno svogliato tran-tran di ripetizioni a domicilio a studenti altrettanto svogliati, fra i quali spicca il quindicenne Luca, ignorante come gli altri, ma vitale ed irriverente. Un bel giorno la madre del ragazzo si fa viva, come un fantasma dal passato, con una rivelazione che butta all'aria la vita di Bruno: Luca è suo figlio, un figlio di cui ignorava l'esistenza. La donna, in procinto di partire per un lavoro di sei mesi da cooperante in Africa, chiede a Bruno di ospitare a casa sua il ragazzo, e di prendersi cura di lui, ma senza rivelargli la sua vera identità. Inizia così una convivenza improbabile, sei mesi durante i quali Luca si troverà a confrontarsi con una figura maschile adulta e Bruno, suo malgrado, non potrà fare a meno di prendersi cura di quel figlio segreto.
