Venice Beach Boardwalk
Sunday September 20th, 1pm - 10pm
Join Digital Photo Academy instructor George Simian for a day at California's infamous Venice Beach Boardwalk. With endless characters strolling the walkway, there will be no shortage of subject matter to photograph.
Walking along the Ocean Front Walk, one will see a broad variety of artists, musicians, street performers and tarot card readers. This is where residents and tourists alike come to check out the local color. Unwittingly the visitor become part of the Venice scene.
You will begin your day at Image Mechanics for a lesson on shooting with both natural light as well as fill flash on location outdoors. George will also discuss tricks and tips to achieving successful street scene images.
You will spend the majority of the day scouring the Boardwalk for interesting characters to photograph; shooting alongside a professional and receiving critiques and advice in real time.
Finish up the day with a lesson on post capture optimization, file handling and general work flow. George will also conduct a critique of everyone's best images from the day!

Historical Society's Civil War Days

Retrace Los Angeles Founders Footsteps: Walk to Pubelo LA

This is a 9 mile walk or bicycle ride it~ from San Gabriel Mission to Pueblo Los Angeles. Arrive early for registration, free coffee, juice, pastry, free tee shirt, and the celebration. Do not worry about walking the complete distance. The complete route will be posted and there will be no cars. Mobile vans will cruise the route in case you get thirsty, or need a rest- to pick up people who need a ride to LA! All police and emergency services will be posted along the walk. Walkers will be welcomed at the festive Los Angeles Birthday celebration at the Old Plaza Olvera Street. FREE
