Learn to Use WordPress in a Day

Learn to Use WordPress in a Day is a full-day workshop sponsored by WordCamp Portland (https://portland.wordcamp.org/2015/). It is FREE! to all registrants - but space is limited so registering via RSVP is required. This workshop is designed for persons brand new to WordPress and will stay at a very basic level.

In this workshop, presented and assisted by local WordPress experts, you will build an actual website for a mock business (Run Dog Run (http://rundogrun.co/)) and learn how to:

• Navigate the back end (admin/dashboard) of a WordPress site

• Create/edit pages and posts

• Place and resize images and video

• Add links to pages on your site

• Create menus

• Embed a map

• Add widgets to sidebars

• Customize the header

• ...and much more!

This is your chance to familiarize yourself with how to use WordPress. Doing this will make WordCamp Portland (https://portland.wordcamp.org/2015/) a valuable follow-up event! (Register for WordCamp Portland 2015 (https://portland.wordcamp.org/2015/))

This will be a hands-on workshop and all participants will be provided with a freshly installed WordPress site on an actual web host to work with. A laptop with Wi-Fi capability is required for each participant. Lunch will only be a half hour so bring a sack lunch and whatever you may wish to snack on throughout the day. Get a good night's sleep beforehand as we're going to keep things moving as we build a small business site together from scratch.
