Beyond the Comp: Alternatives to Conveying Interactive Design Concepts

Many of the processes and deliverables widely used in web design today have been inherited from print, or born in the early days of web design. Deliverables like static wireframes or rounds of Photoshop comps provide a muted glimpse of the experiences they are trying to represent, which often result in mismanaged expectations and wasted resources. Erin Kurtz, Substance's Experience Director, will present some of the ways we are redefining our methods and deliverables by capitalizing on the broadening skill sets of our UX, Design and Development teams to work smarter and more efficiently in our User Experience and Visual Design phases.

I'm pretty excited for this talk, as the design web field could use a bit of disruption. Thanks to Erin and Substance for presenting this talk, thanks to Webtrends for the space, and thanks to Vitamin T for catering dinner!

What was the hackathon mentioned during the last meetup? I know some folk who are interested and I can't seem to find the info. Thanks!

Great talk, Erin. It's interesting to see how everyone's thinking and processes are evolving. It's apparent there's no tool yet that's a silver bullet. Also: I totally agree about Twitter Bootstrap. I've pretty much suck with it because it just looks better to me ;)

Nothing really new here but the speaker was witty and charming. I'd be game for a more extensive dive into Bootstrap as used in this context.
