Subject: Tesla petition, supporting greener transportation
The National Automobile Dealers Association is feeling seriously threatened by Tesla Motors' success. Instead of fighting in the marketplace, they've responded by trying to ban Tesla from selling their cars directly to consumers, on a state by state basis, even though they have no interest in selling Tesla's cars themselves. They've decided that Tesla is incompatible with their business model because they can't make money on maintenance, they don't want to educate consumers on electric technology, they don't want to undercut sales of their more profitable lines, etc. They simply don't want to compete with a disruptive business model when they've invested in and greatly profited from the status quo, and thus they're trying to prevent consumers from having a choice.
A Tesla enthusiast started a petition on petitions.whitehouse.gov
, asking for Tesla to be able to sell cars in all 50 states. It only has until Friday to reach the required 100,000 signatures for an administration response. Anyone 13 or over can register and sign the petition, even within the same household.
Please consider taking a few minutes to register with petitions.whitehouse.gov
, if you haven't done that already, and add your name to the petition supporting Tesla's right to sell cars in all 50 states:
We want Tesla to have an opportunity to succeed and deploy their "mass market", more affordable car. But to do that, they need to be able to sell their current and future offerings without huge legal fights in each state, which only drive up the costs to consumers. Let's not let the existing auto dealers bully us into having no other options!
Thanks for your support.
