Why: the cost of running a meetup group on meetup.com incurred by the organizer.
We're a book club in Philadelphia with a focus on contemporary literature. We have a lot of members, but don't worry - we wind up with a comfortable number of folks at the meetings. We meet at a bar, diner, or a coffeehouse, so no hosting duties, plenty of room, and you almost never have to buy the book.
