Welcome! The goal of the group is to go out and hear great jazz - wherever it's taking place - and be with simpatico company. Some of the best jazz in Philly takes place in non-traditional settings, ie, the Art Museum, theaters, and small community venues. Since it's sometimes difficult to socialize at these venues, I'll schedule purely social meetups, too. Since there are so many great concerts that won't make it onto the meetup schedule, let's use the *Message* board to tell each other about other concerts/events.
If you're a visitor to our site, please click on "Welcome" on the left to join The Philadelphia Jazz Meetup. It's FREE!

Claudia Acuna at the Kimmel
Kimmel Center - Perelman Theater
260 S Broad St
Philadelphia, PA 19102
A pure, compelling, and original voice hailed by the Los Angeles Times as an "instrument of wonder," Chilean singer Claudia Acuña draws upon the culture of her homeland by fusing Latin rhythms with her instinctive jazz sensibility. Singing primarily in her mother tongue, Acuña makes it clear that music crosses all barriers—particularly when sung with her distinctive brand of authentic emotion. "...The voice of an angel." —Newsday
This event includes an artist chat!
This performance is in the lower priced Perelman Theatre rather than the high priced Verizon Hall. Personally, I think the acoustics and the sight lines in the Perelman are great. I'm planning on getting 2nd balcony seats to keep the price under $40. We won't be able to get enough tickes in a row on the floor, anyway.
