The "Virtual List" Technique: anything is possible when you're not in a relationship

Presenter: David Hollander, MD, Combined Fields Consulting

(Some of you may remember that David presented on this topic two years ago; this is a refresh of that presentation with new content - and many of you weren’t around the first time. This is a great session! - Colin)

A "Virtual List" does the impossible. It can mix data together from different (even unrelated) tables in one portal, or data from different tables at different times through a single portal on the same layout. With just some scripting and global variables, one utility table can display anything from a Virtual List, without relationships.

Once you see it, you'll understand how to put this technique to work. No experience required. We'll start from a very basic introduction, and then demystify Virtual Lists by examining situations that call for their use, various ways of building them, and their advantages and disadvantages. A demo file will be available.
