April Meetup

April showers mean NO MORE SNOW. Also, Ext JS!

5:30p-6p : Food/networking

6p-8p : Sencha Ext JS

Sencha Ext JS is a leading enterprise-grade web application development framework. Ext JS provides the tools necessary to build robust desktop applications using a Big Data Grids, a rich data package with a model-view-controller (MVC) architecture.

We will be live coding a practical example starting with the basics and ending with more advanced capabilities. We will be exploring the MVC application architecture by implementing various UI components such a forms and Grids to accomplish a simple data entry application.

Presenters: David Meier, Brandon McCracken and Peter Shepley are UI JavaScript Engineers at PointRoll developing PointRoll's flagship platform application. Headquartered in King of Prussia, PointRoll provides advertising innovations across the many screens of video, mobile, desktop and social while offering a unique creative perspective. David, Brandon and Peter Combined have nearly 20 years of JavaScript web application experience. They have all been using ExtJS 4 since it was adopted at PointRoll just under 2 years ago. David, Brandon and Pete believe in clean code practices with an emphasis on Test-Driven Development. The path to making code easier to write and easier to change is to test it and maintain the tests along with the production code. Industry standards, patterns, and practices help guide these three jaunty javascript developers in their quest for clean, understandable code.

Here's the repo for my part. It does not include the third session's updates on theming.

Here's the guide I made for myself to follow during the talk:

Good introduction to Ext JS, which I was not familiar with. Will you be making your demo code public?

I also noted WebStorm. Right now I hack JS in Eclipse since it is what I use to develop my rest server.

I had a good chat afterwards with a gentleman afterwards (sorry I forgot your name) about full-stack and front-end testing with a rest stream. Thanks!

It was good, it would be better if we can get whats its going to be about ahead of time so we can do little research on the topic that going to be covered.

Thanks for coming. Interesting... The meeting description was TBD when originally created. I updated the description on 4/11 with the talk abstract and bio. In addition to this page, you should have received an update email at that time. Maybe check to ensure Meetup notifications are turned on - http://www.meetup.com...

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
