Hello Fellow Gurus!

Lets meetup and talk about web design!!

Please answer the poll at the link below so we can accommodate everyone!
http://www.polleverywhere.com/multiple_choice_polls/MTI1OTU0NjMyNA

During this meetup, we will discuss all the tools you should be using to do web development. (Mac, Linux, annnd Windows folks)

We will start with the basics (text editors, web browsers, etc.) and move to HTML/CSS/Javascript tools.

Following the discussion, we will conclude by building a website together and launching it live! So bring your nettops, and lapbooks to join in on the fun!

The date for this event is tentatively set June 21st at Devnuts; If you can't make that date, and want to join, please feel free to suggest a better date!!

Oh and as always Brown Betty Cupcakes will be served!

Cheers,

Lloyd Emelle

Well, you should be clearer about what you are covering. It was primarily a programmer/coder event and did not cover anything at all about design. You went way over the heads of many people with the technical talk. And, you said you need to know how to program in Html, java script, PHP, CSS and several other languages. That is not true. You could show HOW to use Html 5 features (not just talk about them) and how to use them specifically. Also, pick some 3 or 4 common features for a webpage that can be done in Html 5 and show just that. Keep it simple and drop the techno-babble. It is not helpful.

Also, most people do not write code to create a website. They use web authoring programs which divorce the user from writing code altogether. That is where most people are and should be. You need to show practical things that people can use without writing code.

If I join and be active with just one Meetup group, this is the one!
    Very informative and resourceful.

Really enjoyed the presentation and discussion from most of the attendees. There was some discussion that seemed a bit unnecessary, but I know that can be a tough think to manage when bringing together people from all over the spectrum. While the title was "Web Design," it was probably 90% focused on Web Development -- though I suppose that makes sense, given the overall group's background & skill sets.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
