Sakura Sunday at Philly's JAPANESE TEA HOUSE & GARDEN - 4/13/14

Friends - Philly's Cherry Blossom festival "Sakura Sunday" will be on Sunday April 13th in Fairmount Park at Horticultural Hall. There is a whole day of events starting at 9:30am to 5pm. Interestingly it also mentions that bicycles can park for free!

The cost of attending the events at Horticultural Hall is $7 advance or $10 at the door.

However what is NOT mentioned is that Sakura Sunday is a terrific opportunity to visit Philly's only Japanese Tea House & Garden, also know as Shofuso Japanese House which is located right by Horticultural Hall. It is charming and elegant, and my understanding is that Sakura Sunday is the only day of the year where entry to Shofuso is FREE (normally admission is $7).

Besides being FREE, once inside the Shofuso grounds you will be able to purchase Japanese food. Sushi, sake, and tea will be for sale provided our friends at ZENTO who are the official caterer of events at Shofuso Japanese House. Normally consuming food & drinks by the public is forbidden at Shofuso, so whether you haven't been there yet or you've visited a dozen times, Sakura Sunday is the perfect day to visit Shofuso Japanese House and enjoy some sake or tea (hot & cold) along with some sushi rolls by the koi pond surrounded by cherry blossom trees. I'm told that sushi rolls will only cost $5 -- yum yum!
