We meet about once a month to discuss a philosophical topic of interest to our members. Sometimes that topic is decided during a previous meetup and other times by the organizers.
We discuss philosophy as understood in the broad, traditional sense of the pursuit of wisdom, largely through the use of reason but also through observation. Instead of limiting ourselves to how philosophy is narrowly defined in many contemporary universities, we prefer to think of it as general theorizing. So our topics can vary greatly, from Socrates or Descartes to discussing the philosophical implications of the latest hit movie or world event.
No previous experience in philosophy is necessary. No particular religious beliefs (or lack of beliefs) are required; all are equally subject to analysis! All that is needed is an openness to ideas and a desire for intellectual stimulation and discussion.
See you at the next meetup!
